The 10 best AI Overviews trackers in 2026.

An AI Overviews tracker answers two questions for every keyword you care about: does Google show an AI Overview, and is your page one of the sources it cites? That is a narrower job than our best AI visibility tools roundup (ChatGPT, Perplexity and the other assistants) or our best GEO tools list (the whole generative engine market). This page is Google AI Overviews only: ten trackers sorted by how they collect the data, with real entry prices and one honest flaw each.

EDITOR'S FRAMING

Why your rank tracker is no longer enough.

For most of SEO history, position was the whole story. AI Overviews broke that. Ahrefs found in March 2026 that only 37.9% of the URLs Google cites in an AI Overview also appear in the top 10 results for the same search, down from about 76% in its July 2025 study, across 863,000 keyword results pages. An earlier Ahrefs study measured a 34.5% drop for the number one result on keywords that show an Overview, and Pew Research Center found people clicked a normal result on 8% of visits with an AI summary against 15% without one. So AI Overview rank tracking has to check the citation, not just the blue link. We keep the wider market numbers on our AI SEO statistics page.

There are three ways to track AI Overviews, and the list is sorted by them rather than by one made-up score. Entries 1 to 6 are keyword rank trackers: they load the real results page for your keyword list and record whether an Overview appeared and who it cited. Entries 7 and 8 are prompt trackers that run your buyers' questions and count Google AI Overviews as one engine among several. Entry 9 is Search Console, Google's own impression count. Entry 10 is our product, it is not a tracker, and it is ranked last for that reason. AI Mode is a separate surface with its own behaviour, covered in how AI Mode differs from AI Overviews. Every price below was checked against the vendor page on October 3, 2026. No affiliate links, no paid placements.

SE Ranking

Teams that want AI Overview tracking as its own report, not a SERP-feature footnote.

SE Ranking product page screenshot
THE FACT LINE

Core plan $129/mo ($103.20 billed yearly) for 2,000 daily keywords. The AI Search add-on ($89/mo, $71.20 yearly) covers AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT and Perplexity. Free check of 5 keywords on desktop, no account.

SE Ranking built the closest thing to a purpose-made AI Overviews tracker inside a mainstream rank tracker. For each tracked keyword it records whether an Overview appeared, which URLs Google cited inside it, and whether one of them is yours. The metric worth paying for is the organic to AI overlap: it compares the cited sources against the top 20 organic results for the same keyword, so you can see at a glance whether Google is quoting the pages that rank or reaching past them.

That split tells you which problem you have. If you rank on page one and still are not cited, the page is the issue (no direct answer, no sourced numbers), and that is AI search optimization work, not link building. If you do not rank at all, start there. The free five-keyword checker on the product page is enough to find out which camp you are in before you pay for anything.

WATCH OUT

The AIO data sits in a paid add-on, so the real entry price is about $218 a month on monthly billing.

#02AIO tracking inside an SEO suite

Semrush Position Tracking

Teams already paying for Semrush who want AIO status next to their rankings.

Semrush Position Tracking product page screenshot
THE FACT LINE

Plans from about $117/mo billed yearly (500 tracked keywords plus 50 AI prompts a day on the entry SEO plan). Position Tracking flags every keyword that triggers an AI Overview and shows the domains cited in it.

Semrush treats the AI Overview as a SERP feature and tracks it the way it tracks everything else: daily, per keyword, per location and device. Filter a Position Tracking campaign to AI Overviews and you get trigger status and citation status for every keyword on the list, plus the competing domains Google quoted instead of you. The same data shows up in Organic Research, Keyword Overview and the Semrush Sensor, so you can also size how many of your existing rankings sit under an Overview.

One quirk to know before you read the averages. When your domain is cited inside an Overview, Position Tracking records it as position 1, whatever the page ranks organically underneath. That is a reasonable convention, but it can flatter your average position on a keyword set heavy with Overviews. If the suite price is the sticking point, our list of Semrush alternatives covers the cheaper routes.

WATCH OUT

An AIO citation is logged as position 1, which can inflate average position. Not worth buying the suite for this alone.

#03Rank Tracker plus a free AIO checker

Ahrefs

A free first look, then citation research across the whole index.

Ahrefs product page screenshot
THE FACT LINE

Free AI Overviews Tracker, no signup, limited preview. Paid plans from $129/mo (Lite, 750 tracked keywords, weekly updates by default). Brand Radar AI from $199/mo.

Ahrefs comes at AI Overviews from three directions. The free AI Overviews Tracker takes a brand name and returns mention counts, the trend by month, and the top five pages and domains Overviews cite, with no account required. Rank Tracker records AI Overview citations on your tracked keywords with a trend line. Site Explorer has an AI Overview filter that shows every keyword you are already cited for, which is the fastest audit of where you stand today.

The depth sits in Brand Radar, which Ahrefs says runs over 315 million AI Overview prompts a month and benchmarks your share of voice against any competitor. The catch for pure rank tracking is cadence: tracked keywords update weekly on every plan unless you buy daily updates as an add-on, and Overviews churn faster than that. If Ahrefs is the wrong budget fit, we compared the cheaper Ahrefs alternatives separately.

WATCH OUT

Weekly keyword updates by default. The free tracker is a preview, and Brand Radar is a separate purchase from $199 a month.

#04High-volume rank tracker with AIO analysis

AccuRanker

Agencies and in-house teams tracking thousands of keywords.

AccuRanker product page screenshot
THE FACT LINE

From $224/mo (Professional, 2,000 keywords, daily updates plus on-demand refresh). Shows how many keywords trigger an Overview, how many URLs contribute, and whether yours is one. AccuLLM adds prompt tracking across ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews and AI Mode.

AccuRanker is built for scale and speed, and its AI Overview reporting follows suit. The SERP analysis view answers the three questions that matter at portfolio level: how many of your keywords trigger an Overview, how many URLs Google pulls into each one, and how often one of those URLs is yours. You can export the Overviews themselves, which is useful when you want to read what Google actually wrote about your topic rather than a score.

It earns its price when the keyword list is large, typically a store catalogue or a set of programmatic page templates where a few thousand terms need daily coverage and an on-demand refresh after a release. For a 200-keyword blog it is overkill, and the AccuLLM prompt module is not priced on the public pricing page, so budget for a sales conversation.

WATCH OUT

Starts at $224 a month. AccuLLM pricing is not listed publicly.

#05Rank tracker with citation intelligence

Nightwatch

Agencies reporting AIO and local rankings to clients.

Nightwatch product page screenshot
THE FACT LINE

From 79 euros/mo billed yearly (Starter, 500 daily keywords, 50 AI prompts, 1,500 AI answers a month). AI Overviews tracked automatically alongside rankings. White-label reports and unlimited seats from Professional. 14-day trial.

Nightwatch tracks AI Overviews with no setup at all: every tracked keyword records whether an Overview appeared and whether your site is visible in it, in the same SERP features column as featured snippets and local packs. Its newer citation intelligence layer ties ranking movements to changes in how often assistants cite you, which is the right question to ask, even if the attribution is still a correlation.

The agency fit comes from hyper-local tracking and white-label reporting. If your clients are local businesses, the Overview for a city-level query can differ from the national one, and Nightwatch tracks at that level out of the box. Pair it with a process for automating client SEO reports and the AIO line becomes a standing row in the monthly deck.

WATCH OUT

Only 50 AI prompts on Starter. Citation intelligence infers cause from correlation.

#06Reporting-first rank tracker

Advanced Web Ranking

Agencies that live in client reports and dashboards.

Advanced Web Ranking product page screenshot
THE FACT LINE

Pro $139/mo for 7,000 keywords on weekly updates, with AI visibility, AI citations and mentions, and SERP feature tracking including AI Overviews. On-demand updates from the $279 Agency plan. 7-day trial, no card.

Advanced Web Ranking has been the reporting specialist in rank tracking for years, and AI Overview tracking slots into that. Overview presence and your citations sit next to classic positions in the same project, with unlimited users and projects on every plan and a keyword allowance that is generous for the price. AI visibility, citations and mentions across the assistants come included on Pro rather than as an add-on.

It also bundles SEO forecasting, which matters here: when an Overview starts appearing on a keyword you rank for, the click curve changes, and a forecast built on pre-Overview click-through rates will overpromise. The weak spot for AIO work is the default cadence. Pro updates weekly, and the hourly on-demand refresh only arrives on the Agency tier.

WATCH OUT

Weekly updates on Pro. On-demand refresh needs the $279 Agency plan.

#07AIO-first prompt tracker

ZipTie

Teams that want Google AI Overviews and AI Mode alongside the assistants.

ZipTie product page screenshot
THE FACT LINE

Usage-based, from $42.75/mo. Seven engines including Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Copilot. Search Console connects free when the AIO engine is on. 7-day trial with 25 daily prompts, no card.

ZipTie was one of the first tools built around Google AI Overviews specifically, and it still shows. Where the rank trackers above start from a keyword list, ZipTie starts from prompts: the questions your buyers type, re-run on a daily, weekly or monthly schedule, with citation rate, mention rate and sentiment scored per engine. Connecting Search Console at no extra cost lets you line the prompt data up against the impressions Google itself reports.

Pricing is built per workspace from prompts, refresh frequency and engine count, which is fair but takes a few minutes with the calculator. Unlimited seats and competitors are included. Prompt tracking rewards teams that already know which questions matter, so map the question space first using our generative engine optimization guide, then register the prompts that sit closest to revenue.

WATCH OUT

Usage-based pricing needs a calculator. You only see the prompts you registered.

#08Budget AI search monitor

Otterly.AI

Solo founders who want a monthly read on AI Overviews for $29.

Otterly.AI product page screenshot
THE FACT LINE

Lite $29/mo ($25 billed yearly) for 15 prompts, tracked daily. Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Copilot on every plan. AI Mode, Gemini and Claude are paid add-ons.

Otterly is the cheapest credible way to track AI Overviews on a schedule. Google AI Overviews is included on every plan, not upsold, and the link citation report shows which domains Google keeps quoting for your prompts. For a founder who wants to know whether the brand turns up when buyers ask the obvious questions, $29 a month answers it.

Fifteen prompts is the ceiling, and it arrives fast. Spend them on commercial questions, not vanity ones, and accept that you will not see the long tail. Otterly also covers the assistant side (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot), which overlaps with LLM SEO territory. If that half matters more to you than Google, the assistant-first trackers are the better buy.

WATCH OUT

Fifteen prompts on Lite. AI Mode costs extra.

#09Free first-party report

Google Search Console

Everyone, as the baseline every paid tracker should be checked against.

Google Search Console product page screenshot
THE FACT LINE

Free. The generative AI performance report (rolled out to all sites on August 31, 2026) counts how often your pages appeared inside AI Overviews and AI Mode, by page, country, device and date. Impressions only: no clicks, no queries.

Since AI Overviews launched, Search Console folded their impressions into the normal web totals with no way to separate them. That changed in 2026: Google added a generative AI performance report, and since August 31 it is live for every site. It is the only source on this list that is not sampling. Every impression it counts actually happened.

It is also the narrowest. You see impressions per page, never the query that triggered the Overview, never a click, and never a competitor. Use it to confirm which of your pages Google is already quoting and whether that count is growing, then reach for a paid tool for the keyword-level detail. Search Console belongs in every stack, the same way it tops our roundup of free rank trackers.

WATCH OUT

No query data, no clicks, no competitors. Impressions only.

#10OUR PRODUCTCitable-content production

The SEO Agent

Publishing the pages the other nine trackers are waiting to see cited.

The SEO Agent product page screenshot
THE FACT LINE

$99/mo flat. Writes and publishes one fact-checked article a day with a direct answer up top, sourced statistics, FAQ schema and native CMS publishing. Free trial, cancel in one click.

Listed last and listed honestly: this is our product, and it does not track AI Overviews. It has no keyword AIO report and it will not tell you who Google cited this morning. It is here because every tracker above ends at the same instruction, which is to publish pages that answer the query directly and back the answer with sources. That part is work, and most teams stall on it.

The GEO agent does that work end to end: it picks topics from live keyword data, opens every article with a quotable answer, puts a cited source on every claim, adds FAQ and article schema, and publishes to WordPress, Webflow, Shopify or Ghost. One article a day at $99 a month flat, with no per-keyword meter.

WATCH OUT

No AI Overview report. Pair it with a tracker from this list.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Tracking tells you the score. Pages change it.

The usual sequence is a tracker in month one, a flat AI Overview line for a quarter, and a conclusion that Overviews do not cite sites like yours. The causality runs the other way. Google quotes pages that answer the query in the first lines, carry statistics with named sources, use clear headings and schema, and sit on a site that covers the topic in depth. A tracker cannot add any of that. It can only report, accurately, that it is missing.

So sequence it. Pick 50 to 200 keywords that carry revenue, put them in one of the trackers above to get a baseline, and then spend the real effort on the pages. Build them by hand with our step-by-step answer engine optimization guide, or let our AI SEO agent publish one a day. We built an answer engine optimization agent for exactly this half of the job, because the tracker line only moves after new citable pages go live.

QUESTIONS

AI Overview tracking questions we get asked.

Missing something? Ask us directly.

What is an AI Overviews tracker?

An AI Overviews tracker checks Google results for the keywords or prompts you care about and records two things: whether Google showed an AI Overview, and which sources it cited inside it, including whether one of them is your page. Keyword-based trackers (SE Ranking, Semrush, Ahrefs, AccuRanker, Nightwatch, Advanced Web Ranking) do this on top of normal rank tracking. Prompt trackers (ZipTie, Otterly.AI) treat AI Overviews as one engine among several.

Can I track AI Overviews in Google Search Console?

Partly. Since August 31, 2026 every site has a generative AI performance report that counts how often your pages appeared inside AI Overviews and AI Mode, broken down by page, country, device and date. It counts impressions only. There are no clicks, no query data and no competitor view, so it confirms that you are being cited but not for which searches.

How is AI Overview tracking different from AI visibility tracking?

AI Overview tracking is one surface: the AI-written summary at the top of a Google results page. AI visibility tracking covers the assistants too, such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude. Rank trackers are usually the better tool for AI Overviews because the Overview sits on the same results page as your rankings. Our separate AI visibility tools roundup covers the assistant side, and the GEO tools roundup covers the whole market.

How did you pick and order these ten?

They are sorted by how they collect the data rather than by one overall score. Entries 1 to 6 are keyword rank trackers that record the Overview on the real results page, ordered by how directly they report it. Entries 7 and 8 are prompt trackers with Google AI Overviews as an engine. Entry 9 is Google Search Console, the free first-party baseline. Entry 10 is our own product, which does not track at all. Every price was checked against the vendor pricing page on October 3, 2026.

Which AI Overview tracker is cheapest?

Search Console is free and should be on regardless. The Ahrefs AI Overviews Tracker gives a free, no-signup preview by brand, and SE Ranking lets you check five keywords for free on desktop. For ongoing tracking, Otterly.AI starts at $29 a month for 15 prompts and ZipTie starts at $42.75 a month. The keyword rank trackers start between roughly $117 and $224 a month.

How often should AI Overview rankings be checked?

Daily if you can. Google changes which sources an Overview cites far more often than it reshuffles the blue links underneath, so a weekly snapshot misses most of the churn and makes the trend look noisier than it is. Ahrefs and the Advanced Web Ranking Pro plan update weekly by default, with daily or on-demand refresh at extra cost. Read the trend over a month, never a single day.

Does ranking in the top 10 get you cited in an AI Overview?

Less often than it used to. Ahrefs found in March 2026 that 37.9% of the URLs cited in AI Overviews also ranked in the top 10 for the same search, down from about 76% in its July 2025 study, across 863,000 keyword results pages. Ranking still helps, but a tracker that only reports your blue-link position will miss whether you are actually quoted.

Is this list sponsored?

No. There are no affiliate links, no paid placements and no outbound links to the tools listed. The tenth entry is our own product, it is labelled as such in its section, and it is ranked last because it is not a tracker. Screenshots were captured from each vendor page.

Can a tracker get my page into AI Overviews?

No. A tracker tells you where you stand. What gets a page cited is the page: a direct answer near the top, statistics with named sources, clear structure and schema, and enough coverage of the topic that Google trusts the site. Track the keywords that matter, then spend most of the effort on publishing pages that deserve the citation.

TRACKING IS NOT A STRATEGY
